Dating to the Moche IV Period -- circa 450 A.D. -- this fine vessel is in the form of Ai Apec in human skull form (Ai Apec represented death and was thought to consume human flesh). In this example, he is shown as a fanged beast with hollow eyes, large noise and ears wearing earflares. 10-1/2"H, in excellent condition with wear to the surface and very top portion of spout restored. Ex-private Arizona Collection. Very nice example!
