Robert MacIsaac (1925-2000), ?Gaspe Rue Quebec? original watercolor, 1981, maritime watercolor, 20th century realist.
Robert MacIsaac was born in Detroit, MI in October of 1925 where he began to foster his significant artistic talent. He spent much of his professional career in Novi, MI where he gained recognition for his beautiful landscapes and maritime activities of Michigan. He was also a renowned graphic designer; his work can still be viewed in the seal of the City of Novi. Robert was a decorated World War II veteran and produced many exemplary and vivid pieces up to his death in Clearwater, FL in December of 2000.
This is a beautiful monochromatic maritime watercolor that exhibits all the mastery over painting water that MacIsaac was so well known for. Though a monochromatic painting, it is painted so well that you can almost see the color. The contrast of light and shadow shows the bright sunshine even when no sun is in the painting. Excellent atmospheric perspective and a unique triangular composition that allows your eyes to flow throughout the picture. This picture is matted in a v-cut beige colored mat and framed in an antiqued gold frame. The mat and frame imitate the color of the painting and bring the entire piece to a size of 23? x 26?. An excellent buy.
