SP, b/w matte, 8"x10" quarter-length portrait of the king on his throne at Kampala in royal attire. Boldly signed in blue ink, addng “<i>Uganda</i>.” Fine. Plus a bank check endorsed by him on verso. After Uganda gained its independence from Britain in 1962 under Prime Minister Milton Obote, Mutesa became the country’s first president. He was overthrown by Ugandan government troops in 1966. Accompanied by a transmittal TLS by the King’s secretary and assorted newspaper clippings.</span></p>
