MUHAMMAD ALI'S TRAINING CAMP PASS
A fine relic from Muhammad Ali's famous training camp at Deer Lake, Pa., a laminated pass worn by visitors to the facility which was kept under close watch to prevent access by the opposing camp, the press, and hangers-on. The white laminated pass, which bears the original leather lace, reads: "MUHAMMAD ALI TRAINING CAMP P.O. BOX 184 DEER LAKE, PA. 17961", with the verso bearing the control number: "6". Fine condition. The camp, constantly expanded following the revocation of the stripping of his titles, was often visited by celebrities and sports stars, any of whom could have worn this pass including Andy Warhol, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Sylvester Stallone, Elvis Presley, and even Howard Cosell. Sold with a sheet of Ali's personal informal stationery, an envelope from the Deer Lake camp, a photo of BUNDINI BROWN, and a candid Polaroid photo of Ali in a black trench coat. From the estate of WALI "BLOOD" MUHAMMAD (1927-2012), one of Ali's trainers who worked in his corner from the first Ali-Frazier fight, on. Previously, he had worked for Sugar Ray Robinson starting in 1948 until gaining employment with Ali in 1965. He died in 2012 on Ali's 70th birthday.
