Farrukhsiyar, Gold Mohur, 10.89g, Mu’azzamabad Mint, AH 112X/ RY 5 (KM# 390.22). Complete mint name on bottom of reverse. Extremely fine, extremely rare.
‘Mu’azzamabad’ was the Islamic alias of Gorakhpur, an important trading centre in opium and sugarcane situated in Northern UP. It was named so after Mu’azzam, the eldest son of Aurangzeb, who visited the city after 1680, when a new administrative subdivision was created in his honour.
