Akbar, Silver Tanka, 10.24g, Chittagong Trade Coinage series, AH 965, Obv: Legend "Sultan Akbar Jalal Shah Sultan ibn Humayun Sultan Khallada Allah Mulkahuwa Saltanahu" 965, Rev: Kalima in rectangle. Very fine, exceedingly rare.
This coin in the Chittagong series is the only instance in Akbar's silver coinage where his name is inscribed with his patronymic 'son of Humayun'. It is also unusual for styling Akbar as a 'Shah Sultan'. Appropriately enough, Humayun is styled only a 'Sultan'. Also unusual is the truncated version of Akbar's laqab 'Jalaluddin' which occurs only as 'Jalal Shah'. These coins are among the rarest types in Akbar's silver coinage with only handful specimens known to exist.
