<td width="100%">
19th century lay down sterling silver and enameled glass perfume bottle, made either by Mt. Washington in the USA, or Thomas Webb & Sons in England.

Total length is 8 1/2 inches.

Long, tapering bottle in ivory coloured glass, beautifully enameled with delicate scrolling branches with flowers in full bloom and buds and foliage. COlours are red, pinks, salmons, orange, and shades of green and brown, all highlighted with gold. Pattern entirely encircles the bottle, including the bottom.

THe swirling sterling silver lid is hallmarked twice, once with an animal head and one oval with IP. No stopper.

The bottle was made either by Mt. Washington as was a 4inch example with a bamboo pattern, similarly enameled in Jacquelyne Jones North's 1986 book on perfume bottles, page 21. It is also very similarly decorated to examples of Webb Burmese glass, one page 39 Revi's Nineteenth Century Glass.

Condition looks very good to the naked eye, but magnifying glass reveals a small slightly uneven patch (less than 1/4 inch wide) on the bottom, which may be original to the bottle, mentioned only for total accuracy.
