This is one of Claudet's favorite settings, with the figures posed in a plush drawing room with a curtained window behind showing a landscape with illuminated sky. This is distinguished from most of his more formal images in that it shows an unusual degree of tenderness between the mother and her daughter whose face is placed directly next to hers. This has Claudet's original board back with his logo, and the original tape and reverse painted glass. It is still in its original leather case [in fine undamaged condition] with Claudet's gilded logo on the face, and the red ribbon to lift the stereoscopic daguerreotype out of the case. There is nice hand coloring, especially the violet dress and curtains. [4-]
