Lot of 2: 1 is a blacksmith-make round wire type, with the spike squared at the point, no hook. Hand-hammered thimble, workmanship is crude. Measures 10.5 long. 2 is a right-handed example of another candlestick, measures 11 long, stamped Crescent on the squared spike near the thimble. Made by the Missouri firm of Ludlow-Saylor Wire Co. of cast steel, non-articulating type. These are unique due to the thimble being brazed on. This firm made several similar models, most stamped with various state`s or city`s names. Next to Varney, L-S was to most prolific maker of candlesticks (W. Wilson T. Bobrick, Miners` Candlesticks). Rusted finish on both, the Cresent model being in better condition.
