#1: Mining Deed: dated June 4, 1898 in Jackson County, Missouri wherein D.C. Benson sold to James W, Utley one-twenty-fifth share of the Electric Lode Mining claim in the Cripple Creek Mining District, County of El Paso in Colorado; also one-twenty-fifth interest in the Sixteen-to-One Tunnel Site, also in Cripple Creek. The sales price was $400. Measures 11x17” and is folded in sixths; parchment-type paper.

#2: Mining Deed: dated April 30, 1898 in El Paso County in the State of Colorado wherein W.G. Hughes sold to D.C. Benson one-twenty-fifth share of the Electric Lode Mining claim in the Cripple Creek Mining District, County of El Paso in Colorado; also one-twenty-fifth interest in the Sixteen-to-One Tunnel Site, also in Cripple Creek. The sales price was $400. Measures 11x17” and is folded in sixths; parchment-type paper

#3: Letter to “Friend Utley” from L.V. Heidrick dated December 17, 1903; on letterhead of Roland E. Bruner & Co., Brokers, Mines and Mining Investment. This letter accompanied Certificate No. 882 for 1000 shares in exchange for four stock certificates each worth 250 shares of an unnamed stock.

#4 and #5: two empty envelopes; one from the B.&H. Mining Company of Kansas City, Missouri, addressed to Mr. James Utley [sic] at 827 Baltimore Ave. Avemonsdale, Kansas postmarked December 17 with partial red stamp; the other addressed to G.C. Utley ot Ultey, 825 Waverley Ave., Kansas City, Kansas from F.M. Gable, Receiver, Aurora Oil & Gas Company of Leavenworth, Kansas. Has a preprinted red two-cent Washington stamp, cancelled on December 15, 1925.

#6 and #7: business cards: one for Utley’s Motor and Electric Company at 8th and Quindaro Blvd.; the second is George C. Utley 825 Waverley, Kansas City, Kans “retired locomotive engineer. Both measure 3.5x2”.

#8: Obituary for George C. Utley, aged 85; there is no indication of what newspaper this was clipped from or the date.

#8 through #21: twelve photographs in black-and-white

Lot of four: with motorcars, measuring 4.5x2.75. Only one has writing on the back explaining how the driver has to drive through a lake.

Lot of three: with decorative border measuring 3.75x5”. Two have handwriting: “that a dilly” and “how sweet he is.” All the pictures are exteriors of people standing along a dirt road.

Lot of two: with serrated borders and measuring 2.75x4.5”; exterior shots; one has a single man under a tree and the other has two men, one elderly.

Lot of one: portrait of “Uncle Geo” and “War No. 1” on reverse; measures 3.5x5.25” and is sepia toned;

Lot of one: landscape view of rolling hill taken from someone’s yard. Measures 4.5x3.25; glossy

Lot of two: both approximately 2.75x4” ; one shows a middle-aged couple on a suspended swing; “love” is written on the reverse; the other is a young man petting a dog. He is on the sidewalk and in the background there is a car and a church. One the reverse it identifies the man as Geo Utley.
