MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2 – Framed Bullet Casings
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2 (2000) - This framed display contains 9mm blank bullet casings that were used by the character Ethan Hunt portrayed by actor Tom Cruise in "Mission Impossible 2" starring Dougray Scott and Thandie Morton. The matted display case measures approx. 30.5 X 25.75 inches and holds 1 dummy round and seven live firing blank rounds. The dummy round and the remaining 6 blank shell casings were used in distinct scenes throughout the course of the film, all expressly notated by individual plaques within the frame. In counter clockwise order from upper left: 1. This 9mm dummy round was used in Mr. Cruise’s magazine for all the gunfire sequences so that the slide of the gun would not lock to the rear with the firing of the last round. The reason for this is to safely simulate the character’s gun to have more ammunition. 2. Fired inside the Biocyte laboratory. 3. Fired during Mr. Cruise’s flip sequence while escaping from Biocyte Island. 4. Fired in the final scene when the character Ethan Hunt kicks the gun out of the sand and shoots character Sean Ambrose. 5. Fired during the final chase sequence, when Mr. Cruise spins the motorcycle 180 degrees while firing at the villains in the SUV. 6. Fired during the nose wheelie sequence, where MR. Cruise spins the motorcycle around on its front tire while firing at the villains in the white car. 7. Fired during the Motorcycle Chase Sequence. This item is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the weapons coordinator who oversaw the use of the dummy round and blank firing weapons and retrieved the shell casings immediately following their use in the different sequences.
