MIGHTY JOE YOUNG

One Sheet (27" x 41"); Style C
Very Fine- on Linen; Artwork by Gene Widhoff
RKO, 1949

This wonderful Style C, which many consider to be the best for this film, has been professionally placed on linen with folds and crossfold wear touched up, and some slight color boosting. It displays very well.

After the massive success of King Kong (1933), RKO Pictures sought to create a follow-up to the film. Unfortunately, the star of the movie, Kong, perished at the end of the film, falling from the top of the Empire State Building. However, this did not deter Kong creators Merian C Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, along with special effects and stop-motion genius Willis O'Brien (assisted by a young Ray Harryhausen, who served as an assistant animator in his first job), model maker Marcel Delgado, and Robert Armstrong from the original film. Together, they collaborated on making this new picture.
