(MICHIGAN SOLDIERS WHO CAPTURED JEFF DAVIS)
A great group of seven war-date CDVs and tintypes of soldiers from the 4th Michigan Cavalry. This regiment was on the expedition to capture Jeff Davis and it was the members of this regiment who actually took the fleeing Confederate president into custody, May 10, 1865. Included in the group are Company H members: Quarter Master Sgt. Horace Warner (two different poses), Corporals Benton Thurston and Johnson Saur, Privates John Sullivan and Albert Bolt, who was captured outside of Nashville in 1862, and one unidentified image of a private with a Detroit photographer's back stamp. Period identification on each with tops corners of the cards clipped not affecting the images. Minor soiling, else very good.
