Lot of 3 books on geological and mining data, including: 1) Two copies of the 1928 publication of Geological Reports of Douglass Houghton First State Geologist of Michigan 1837-1845. Edited by George N. Fuller and published by the Michigan Historical Commission out of Lansing. 700 pages long, including index. Each copy is hard bound in dark blue and features typical age-related yellowing of the pages and some foxing. One book has small holes in the cover along the front and back of the spine, but the gold embossing on the spine is vibrant. The other copy, a former library book, bears only one hole in the binding but the pages throughout bear library markings and the gold embossing is worn away in some places. These volumes detail Houhgton`s life and successes, and include his many geological reports. 2) The third book in this lot is a slim, 4 x 7 hardbound green and gold copy of Clement K. Quinn Company 1928 Analyses: Lake Superior Iron Ores. produced by offices in both Duluth and Cleveland, and published by Penton Press Co. of Cleveland Ohio. This 60 page volume includes postcard-size images of mining procedures and locations, including the Bessemer process, and corresponding tables of analytic data. Very good condition, with only age related yellowing on pages. HKA#62332
