Peirce of Grand Rapids ran a book store on the corner of Kent and Bronson Streets. He issued twenty different denominations and designs over his career, starting in 1837. The 35 cent issue is the diamond in the rough. A rare denomination from any state, and Michigan in particular. Solid grade, pleasant and delicate engraving, bold pen and rarity combine into a brow-raising package. <B>F-VF.</B>
