MEXICO, Mexico City, gold cob 2 escudos, Charles II, assayer L, jeweled cross (1680-98), rare, NGC AU 58 (1715 Fleet Shipwreck Label), ex-Schulman. S-M29; KM-52, Cal-Type 149; Fr-4. 6.81 grams. Bold full oXML (rare thus) to left of upper 80% of shield with most of crown above, good full cross with most of the "jewels" still discernible, overall rather frosty and arguably Mint State in our opinion. From the 1715 Fleet, with Sedwick photo-certificate, pedigreed to the Schulman (New York) auction of November 1972 (lot 30).
