MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales "biscuit," probably Charles II, assayer not visible, thickly oxidized and encrusted (as found). 25.80 grams total. Covered in dark encrustation with a small part of the edge broken off revealing a dark yet apparently solid cob coin inside, scarce provenance. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Het Huis te Kraaiestein, sunk in 1698 off South Africa
