MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 4 reales, Philip V, assayer not visible (J), style of 1712-14, in large frame with certificate, very rare provenance. S-M22; KM-40; Cal-Type 139. 21¾" x 13¾". Visibly solid flan (no corrosion) with full crown and most of shield (off-center), attractively toned, the cross-side mounted to mat within an elegant framed with its original certificate and postcard showing an engraving of the ship as from a presentation to investors in 1987 that proposed to turn the Whydah museum into a Florida theme park, these framed coins effectively the only items ever available from this popular and historically important pirate treasure ship. Framed with original Maritime / Betts & Bernstein certificate 57501. Recovered from: Whydah, sunk in 1717 off Cape Cod, Massachusetts
