"Lot of three letters and documents relative the American military occupation of Vera Cruz in 1847 including an L.S. of Col H.G. WILSON as Governor and Commander at Vera Cruz, 1p. 4to., Vera Cruz, May 7, 1747 to the Mexican customs collector for Vera Cruz F. M Dimona informing him of the ""...Tariff for the Mexican Ports, in the occupancy of the Military & Naval forces of the U.S...."" He informs the collector that because he is ""...compelled from being so much occupied with other duties assigned to my by Genl. Scott, to request you will continue in the performance of the Collector's duties under my supervision until such time I can report the fact to the War department for their consideration...""; In another L.S. of the same date to the same individual Wilson instructs him to provide ""...a final official statement of all the duties collected and due the Customs under the former tariff...""; together with a document dated Vera Cruz, May 20, 1848 from a notary public certifying the importation of goods.
