Two certificates issued in memory of Corporal Crawford L. Steine, Company B., 316th Infantry. First certificate was designed by E.H. Blashfield, dated 1919, has a printed signature from President Woodrow Wilson, shows a soldier being knighted by Columbia and being 'given the accolade of the new chivalry of humanity'. The second certificate, dated 1919, has a printed signature from French President Raymond Poincare, translates to, 'Those who piously died for the fatherland have the right to their coffin, the crowd comes and prays'. Approx. 20 x 13.5 inches. The French certificate has loss at top edge, 6-inch tear at top, chipping on left and right edges, and toning. American certificate has minor creases.
