<td width="100%">
Antique large Meissen figurine of a Blackamoor / Turk leading a prancing horse. Made Germany, 19th century but originally modelled by Kaendler in the 18th century and known as: Moor with Spanish white horse.

Measures approx 9 inches high and 8 inches front to back.

Roughly oval base with applied scattered flowers and foliage in various colours. A white horse rears up, held by the reigns by a turbanned blackamoor / Turk, wearing a blue robe, tied at the waist by a red sash that holds a long dagger. The man shows full concentration on the horse.
The man strides forward, and the horse's head twists towards him in a wonderfully captured dramatic moment. Great detail from the facial features of man and horse to the purple cuffs and golden rim of the man's robe, which falls slightly open, adding to the sense of movement and energy.

Impressed marks: A.51.X and 101. Blue underglaze crossed swords with no cancel marks for 19th century. Iron red handwritten 26.

Good condition.
