Chalukyas of Kalyana or feudatories, Gold, U shape Fanam, 0.52g, Three punches – 1 x lion, 1 x Ankusha (elephant goad) and 1 x Kannada legend ‘Ja(ga)?)’ on obverse. Extremely fine+, extremely rare.
This is an unusual coin, considering that all the three punches appear to have been struck in a single row on a bent piece of gold wire. Usually, the punches are carefully placed on each arm and on the apex.
