MAUSER S/42 (42 TOGGLE) 1939 DATE LUGER SEMI-AUTO

PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 1530q. Bbl. 4" w/ fin shaped front sight, full number, Eagle party symbol & Eagle 63. Mfg. 1939; 32,500 units, S# 4501n to 10000q. Somewhat confusing model w/ most features characteristic of S/42 but toggle assembly w/ 42 that was in the r suffix S# block or later. 42 Code normally had Eagle 655 proofs. Appears some sort of overlap or replacement toggle. All matching numbers; unnumbered toggle pivot. Left grip marked w/ lg. "0" & "1"; right grip w/ "v". "1939" over chamber plus Eagle party symbol & 2 Eagle 63s on receiver. Correctly all salt blued w/ no strawed sm. parts & no internal areas in the white. MAGS: 1 fair to good blued wrap around body 8 rd. w/ aluminum base marked "2050q", "+", Eagle 63. Appropriate for S/42 whereas 42 codes had extruded mags. Noticeable function wear & very faded finish w/ very slight dent by bottom hole on left side. Slight dimple marks. CONDITION: good plus appearance w/ typical light high point & function wear such as sideplate & by front sight. Patina toned sideplate w/ brown tint & similar appearance on bbl. w/ lighter tone along w/ appearance of prior light oxidation. Plum hued ejector. Very faint peppery oxidation on grip straps & light pitting at top of left frame ear. Area under trigger guard clear & pronounced blunt thumbnail shaped rather than more pointed. Arsenal quality refinish w/ all markings & contours well preserved. Well fitting grips w/ even diamond top hand wear; more wear near butt. Good plus bore w/ wear & very light pitting. (22-4357/NW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
