MAUSER FACTORY CUTAWAY LUGER SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.

Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 21. Bbl. 4" with fin shaped sight. Commercial cutaway model with all matching numbers to include firing pin & grips; rear toggle pivot not numbered. Fine example with the ability to see the workings of a Luger from the assembled exterior. This example is shown on pages 778 & 1097 in Volume II of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess' book "The Borchardt & Luger Automatic Pistols". The finish is all blued with the extractor and ejector having a distinct plum tone; slight plum tone near front sight. The finish is a subdued matte blue with the barrel and sides of frame having a more gloss appearance. No strawed components or in the white interior sections. Fine German craftsmanship with detail that shows the intricate working parts of a Luger. The legend area of the front toggle is milled away; likely it was a Mauser banner model. The chamber area is void of date and the receiver is void of proofs. Although most Mauser Lugers had a letter suffix in their serial numbers, Sturgess' book lists this as a Commercial Mauser without a suffix. MAGS: very good blued 8 rd. with aluminum base numbered 21 without proofs. CONDITION: all aspects near excellent having minimal function wear. As unusual as this appears, it would be functional with a replacement barrel. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Kenneth Horn (Grandson of JC Higgins). Ex - Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess Collection. (22-482/NW). CURIO. $6,000-9,000.
