826. MAURICE RICHARD

(1921-2000). Star player of the Montreal Canadians, dubbed the “Rocket” because of his explosive speed and scoring heroics, helping his team to win five straight Stanley Cups. FDC commemorates the XIII Olympic Winter Games with blue cache. Postmarked at Lake Placid, Olympic Arena Station, Feb 21, 1980. Boldly signed. Also present is a personal memento from his estate, an original award. A wood plaque, 10"x12", with irregular brass plate inscribed in French, translated “To Mr. Hockey Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard commemorating his visit to the City of Olympia de Laprairie,” presented to him on Nov 26, 1966, also inscribed, together with three managing directors. Plaque and brass plate evidence scattered scratches and occasional dings; glue residue at top of plate suggests a missing ornament; o/w in good condition.
