Mauice was an American illustrator and writer of children's books. He became widely known for his book Where the Wild Things Are, first published in 1963. Sendak’s monstrous and evocative wild things served as an entry point into the author’s equally mischievous and imaginative body of artistic work. This drawing measures 11.5x8.5 inches and is signed by Sendak. It's mounted, framed and supplied with coa.

Featuring a selection of preliminary and finished drawings, artwork for posters, theatrical sets and costumes, and more, Sendak’s world recreated here is at once playful, inventive, subversive, and, above all, wild. In the words of Max, our fearless protagonist from Where the Wild Things Are.
