D-GUARD BOWIE KNIFE.
This bowie is among the finest examples w/ unique brass stirrup D-guard. Polished wood grip, brass ferrule. 19.75” overall, 15” double edged blade w/ medial ridge, finely ground. This knife is pictured on pages 428-429 “The Antique Bowie Knife Book’ compiled by Bill Adams, 1990. This knife was in collection of pioneer Confederate collector Bob Owens of Cypress, TX when pictured in Adams book, attributed to Leech & Rigdon manufacture, Columbus, MS. Also featured on the cover of North South Trader's Civil War Magazine, Vol. XXIV No. 2. This is unique knife w/ extraordinary handle & guard made w/ highest finish & quality. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: file of research and letters relating to this knife. Also a copy of the North South Trader's Civil War Magazine. CONDITION: fine overall, blade is gray/bright, fine patina to brass, original sheath is poor but present protecting blade since the war.
