<B>MASAI SHIELD</B></I><BR> This is an authentic shield that the Masai tribesmen used in the Masailand in northern Tanzania. It is about 80 years old and this same type has been used for many years before and after. Made from dried and tanned animal skin and decorated with handmade paints made from berries. The men of the tribe average 7 feet tall and are known for their bravery. In the not-too-distant past, Masai warriors were to kill a lion using only this shield and spear before they could claim manhood and be called a true warrior and be allowed to marry.
