<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>(1782-1862). Eighth President of the United States (1837-41) who played a major role in the creation of the Democratic Party. Government imprint, 14pp, uncut, approx 6¼"x9½", Washington, 1839, by Gales and Seaton. Following the Panic of 1837 while the world is involved in economic depression, Van Buren issues on Dec 2 his “<i>Message From The President of the United States To The Two Houses of Congress</i>” assessing the current domestic and foreign situation. Among the topics Van Buren addresses are the northern boundary dispute with Great Britain following Canadian unrest which elicited sympathy from American citizens and in which he urged restraint; also diplomatic initiatives with Mexico and the new Republic of Texas. In larger part, he argues for the creation of an independent National Treasury for the safety of public funds to ensure confidence of US citizens and urges other banking reforms. Excellent historical economic content. General light toning; occasional minor foxing; tiny edge tears with minimal paper loss; penned initials on back page margin in period brown ink; o/w VG.

acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
