MARTIALLY MARKED COLT MODEL 1860 REVOLVER WITH GERONIMO ASSOCIATION. Cal. 44 Perc. Standard 60 Army with 8” round bbl, German silver front sight with brass trigger guard, iron backstrap and 1-pc walnut grips with the outline of a cartouche on the right side. It has 3-screw frame, cut for shoulder stock with flat head hammer screw and notch in the butt. It has tiny inspector’s initials on various parts. It is accompanied by a notarized letter dated June 5, 1996 from Mary E. Arehart, stating that her farther, Clarence M. Kitt, was given this revolver by the son of the famous Apache Chief, Geronimo. She states that her farther was born in 1891 and Geronimo’s son, who was about the same age, and he were friends. She states that Geronimo’s son took her father into an old barn and from the loft of the barn, gave her father a revolver and a burlap bag of scalps and a tomahawk as a gift. The letter states that the story was related to her sister, Kitt Nelson also. The letter is signed by Kitt Nelson and Mary E. Arehart of Lake Montezuma, AZ. SN 51714. CONDITION: Fair. No original finish remains. The iron is a mottled silver patina mixed with rust spotting. The brass has a medium mustard patina and the cylinder has only traces of its naval battle scene. The grips are sound with chipped toes showing heavy wear and with the outline of the cartouche on the right side. There are 1 or 2 replaced screws. Strong dark bore.
