ARK RAYNES ROBERTS (1961- ) TWELVE LANDSCAPES OF THE CANADIAN PROVINCES AND TERRITORIES (12 Architectural Moveable Glass Screen Dividers) , Twelve engraved crystal panels depicting landscapes of the ten Canadian Provinces (some depicting figures, houses; boats; and wildlife within a landscape) including: Ontario; Quebec; New Brunswick; Nova Scotia; Prince Edward Island; Newfoundland; Saskatchewan; Manitoba; Alberta; British Columbia; and the two Territories: the Yukon and the North West Territory. Each mounted in custom made birch and maple free-standing, moveable, wood frames, the bases of each, inlaid with dark stripes representing the CPR tracks. Executed in 1995. Glass panels, each: 37.3" x 73.9" - 94.6 x 187.7 cm.: Mounted, each: 74" x 77" ¿- 188 cm. x 195.5 cm. Provenance: Commissioned in 1995 for a major Canadian financial institution for their Executive Dining Room, Toronto Note: Toronto artist Mark Raynes Roberts is recognized as one of the world's leading designers and sculptors of crystal. He was born in England and trained as a silversmith and hand-engraver at the Birmingham School of Jewellery and Silversmithing. His exquisitly engraved sculptures, awards and architectural engraved works in crystal, gold and silver can be viewed in his Toronto studio and many prominent private and corporate collections in Canada and throughout the world. Of his work Mark comments: "Crystal has unlimitless dimensions which I find compelling. Its puity and reflective qualities continue to challenge the boundaries on my creativity".
