(1900 - 1949) American novelist, author of the immensely popular tale of the South during the Civil War, Gone With the Wind. Fine content T.L.S. "Margaret Mitchell Marsh", 1p. 4to. on her personal stationery, Atlanta, Oct. 29, 1937 to Chicago woman concerning a writer's conference. She writes, in most part: "…I am very sorry that I cannot oblige you with the article you requested. My life is so rushed these days that I scarcely am able to keep up with my mail, and writing of any type is out of the question. I cannot send you something else I have written, as you requested, because I have nothing else to send. 'Gone with the Wind' was my first and only novel. I have never published any short stories. I appreciated very much the honor of being invited to appear with Christopher Morley, Philip Guedalla and the other famous writers you mentioned in your letter. It would give me great pleasure to appear in such distinguished company if it were possible." Light folds, else fine condition.
