MARC CHAGALL
(1887 - 1985) French artist whose naive style incorporating subjects of Russian and Jewish life made him one of the foremost artists of this century. T.L.S. 1p. 8vo. Vence (France), Sept. 26, [n.y.], in French to fellow artist Jules Bastien-Lepage, in part: "...When I got your letter, I took 'Lettres Francaises' and I was surprised and, above all, happy to find in it almost a whole page about me, including your very sympathetic article. Would that I deserved it!". Lepage (1848-1884) is best remembered for his realist portraits painted outdoors with natural poses. Beautifully matted with a translation in sumptuous red velvet within an incredible carved gilt frame. Fine condition, a superb example for display.

Estimate: $300 - 400.
