Additional Information: This etching is signed in the plate "Chagall" at the lower right margin.
The work is part of a series "Les Fables de la Fontaine" and was published by Teriade Editeur, Paris in 1952 in a limited edition of only 85 hand colored impressions on Montval paper.
The total edition included 200 impressions of which only 85 where hand colored.
As it each one of these 85 impressions was individually hand colored by Chagall, the result was that each one was a unique one of a kind work of art.
It was printed by Maurice Potin & Raymond Haasen, Paris in 1952.
The series was commissioned by Ambroise Vollard in 1927. Chagall executed the plates from 1927 to 1930.
