Title : The Lion and the Midge.

Technique : Original Hand Coloured Etching on Montval paper.

Paper size : 36 x 29 cm / 14.2 x 11.4 inch.

Plate size: 26 x 24 cm / 10.2 x 9.4 inch.

Additional Information :This etching is HAND COLOURED by the artist in Yellow and Red watercolor.
It is signed in the plate "Chagall" in the lower right corner.
The work is part of a series "Les Fables de la Fontaine" and was printed in 1952 in a limited edition of only 85 hand colored impressions on Montval paper.
The total edition included 200 impressions of which only 85 where hand colored.
This edition was printed by Raymond Haasen and published by Charles Solie in 1952r.
The series was commissioned by Ambroise Vollard in 1927. Chagall executed the plates from 1927 to 1930.
