Oil cloth case, 10 x 5.75" with string-tie flap containing two maps, one a 7.25 x 4.25" undated pencilled map on ruled paper showing the area between Resaca and Calhoun, GA, including rebel works, the railroad line, main roads and the heights outside Resaca. Undoubtedly Mickles sketch map of the environs. WITH 18.25 x 11.5" printed map "Map Showing Route of Marches of the Army of Genl W.T. Sherman from Atlanta to Goldsboro...." Issued to accompany the War Dept's report. With inked inscription in lwer right "Officially issued to Capt Wm Mickle AAG Arty Brgd Army of Ga. R.M. McDowell Bvt Major U.S. Vols Chief Engrs Army Ga." Map case missing button tie for strings, first map fine, second with usual folds and minor separations, some edge chipping in blank margins.
