MANUSCRIPT of ca. 240 pp. entitled: "Histoire de la patrie", summarizing the history of the Netherlands, illustrated with 142 engr. laid-in plates from the HISTORISCHE, GEOGRAPHISCHE KONST- EN REISALMANACH, vividly detailling many scenes from Dutch history. Most plates are by Simon Fokke (1712-1784), known for his airy, graceful & theatrical style, was one of the foremost historical illustrators of the 18th century. The prints are from a series printed in the Almanac between 1767 and 1790 and was consecutively numbered 1 to 288 depicting Dutch history from the beginning up to 1790. They were engraved by Fokke and continued after his death in 1784 by successors. (1)
