The implication of dreaming, and sometimes death, is always present in such images, and is usually suggested by the titles or captions he applies to the pictures. At least three different titles have been attached to this image. One of the titles is "Justo Sueño" or "well-earned sleep." Another, inscribed on the back of the print, is "Los perros durmiendo ladran," meaning "sleeping dogs bark." As in so many of Alvarez Bravo's photographs, we are provided with guidelines to the meaning of the photographs but they remain ambiguous, even mysterious.
