This wrought iron console or sofa table in the French Directoire style is believed to date from the 1940s and is done in the manner of Maison Jansen of Paris, known also as the House of Jansen. Made from wrought iron with a dark, smokey glass top. Measures 36" high, 44" wide and 14" deep. (91.4 cm by 11.8 cm by 35.6). Features a crossing arrows motif highlighted in gold finish. Dark grey glass top is new.

Maison Jansen was a Paris-based interior design firm founded in 1880 by Dutch-born Jean-Henri Jansen, and operated continually until their closure in 1989. Jansen is considered the first global design company and served clients in Europe, Latin America, North America and the Middle East. They decorated the White House and numerous important estates.



Maison Jansen pieces of this period and Directoire style are in high demand. Currently is a similar Maison Jansen style console with the same motif offered for $7,500 and a smaller occasional table offered for $7,000.
