Boyse (1708–49), poet, and translator, born in Dublin, was educated there privately, possibly a pupil of Francis Hutcheson …. In London he lived hand to mouth, eventually finding work as a Grub Street hack writer. Samuel Johnson considered him a talented translator, producing translations of Voltaire (1738), Fénelon (1749), and Prévost. However, he was also known to pawn the books he was commissioned to translate (IDNB).(2) STERNE ( Laurence ). Letters of the late Rev. Mr. Laurence Sterne, to his most intimate friends. Ashworth on the first page of text. An uncommon Dublin printing of 117 letters, including two from correspondents of Sterne.
