Pittsfield, Massachusetts, ND (1840s-50s). $5, MA975G76P, Proof Banknote, Black on India paper with man at far left, main street scene at top, and arms of Massachusetts at bottom center, S/N None pp B, PCOs along bottom, PMG graded About Uncirculated 53 with comment "Mounting Remnants," RWH. This is the only example of this note listed in the PMG census of obsolete banknotes. From a new estate find that had been in the family since the 1890s. This is the first time this note has been offered at public auction and is a discovery note.
