The M151A2 was introduced in 1951 with Ford Motor company having the contract to redesign and update the M38 model, later variants of this model were under contract by AM General Corp and Kaiser Jeep. This was the last model in a long line of military utility vehicles that were replaced by the HMMWV (High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle). This model was used extensively in the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts. This camouflage unit possibly used at a base in Germany (Heilbron Military Community sticker on the folding windscreen) retains unit and Military Police markings, radio mounting plates and 3 loaded antennae bases, a small non-original shovel mounted on the passenger side, facilities for an axe on the drivers side and the rear gas can carrier (no can). The four cylinder gasoline engine is of AM General Corporation heritage. Crude maintenance records show that this unit was operational in the late 80's and early 90's. Nomenclature panels show this unit was manufactured by Hunter MFG, Cleveland OH. Also on the panel are the stock no. "NSN2540-00-869-0124", Model "HW 20-2", Serial number "71086", along with the rating and electrical capacity. A paper sticker on the windscreen has "1974 Ford 1/4t 4x4, 2010170300010501002", and a serial number of "KB217036492". Liability concerns with the rear suspension led the U. S. Department of Defense to certify the M151 as "unsafe for public highway use". Included is a copy of a State of Florida application for Certificate of Title (15680678) issued 01/19/10, showing an ID number of "KB217036492" on a 1970 Ford. The odometer reads 23200 miles.
