M Noble: Robert Bentley Todd: A White Marble Pedestal Bust, Signed M Noble Sc, 1864], titled on the reverse, upon a circular moulded pedestal, {77cm high} (base repaired). * Robert Bentley Todd (1809-1860) was an eminent Irish physician, trained in Ireland, and who came to London 1831 aged 22. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1837, fellow of the Royal Society 1838, fellow Royal College of Surgeons 1844. His contributions to medical science were numerous, including a joint authorship of 'The Cyclopedia of Anatomy and Physiology'. A statue of Todd by Noble was erected by his friends in the Great Hall of King's College Hospital £2000-3000
