Strange, 1840-41), first edition, translated from the French, in two volumes, 530 and 394 pages, respectively, heavily illustrated, marbled endpapers, blue-cloth binding with dark-blue leather on the spine and corners, 8vo (5.5” x 8.5”). This is an unabashedly subjective biography of Napoleon from the cradle to the grave, including commentary on the Sir Hudson Lowe controversy.
