Exceptional Early 20th Century Ensemble, consisting of a Model 1902 Fat Barrel American Eagle Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, #22035, 9mm, 4'' barrel, blue finish, straw small parts, checkered walnut grips, correct wood base tin-plated magazine marked ''Cal. 9M/M'', grip safety, wide triggerguard, narrow trigger, with all visible matching numbers. In partition oak case which includes cigar and cigarette cases, period Officer's belt buckle, 1902-0 dated Morgan silver dollar, German 3-mark silver coin with Kaiser and Imperial eagle, period Swiss made pocket compass, pre-WWI Waltham railroad watch in locomotive inscribed silverine case, large and small kukri knives with bone handles, two additional magazines, one combination cleaning rod/oiler, pin punch and combination tool, with match safe named to Charles Clasen and dating from 1902. Emerald green lined oak case is in a combination of partition and French-fitted style and appears to be of English mfg. showing nicely jointed corners, brass English hardware, with stamped nickel-plated Federal eagle to exterior lid, which appears to be from period parade headgear. Affixed to interior lid, to the left of large kukri knife, is a Spanish-American veteran's medal from a post-war fraternal organization. Pistol shows all the extremely rare fat barrel features: Chamber with American Eagle, DWM marked toggle link, scalloped toggle knob, lower portion of safety polished bright, and ''Germany'' export markings beneath serial number. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 98% rust blue with straw parts retaining 75%-80% straw colors, with light thinning at highpoints, mostly to takedown lever and right side of magazine release. Grips show only light flattening to checks. Grip screws retain approx. 30% original thinning blue. Additional magazines may have later markings to bases. Action remains crisp, bore is mirror bright. Est.: $18,000-$24,000. (C&R)
