German-American painter and a leading exponent of Expressionism (1871–1956). Boldly penned ALS in German, signed “Feininger,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 6 x 7.5, personal letterhead, March 25, 1934. Letter to fellow painter Alexej von Jawlensky, addressing him as “Dear Blue Brother,” offering congratulations on his 70th birthday. In fine condition. Together with Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee, Feininger and Jawlensky formed ‘Die Blaue Vier [The Blue Four]’ in 1923, and between 1925 and 1934 mounted exhibitions of their work in the United States, Mexico, and Germany. An excellent artistic association.
