TLS, one page, 7 x 8.75, personal letterhead, February 25, 1969. Letter to the Hon. Ben Oehlert, American ambassador to Pakistan, in part: "It was a comfort to me that you accepted the post at Rawalpindi. A President comes to count and cherish Ambassadors who combine ability, loyalty, and total dedication to the interests of our country. Lady Bird joins me in best wishes to Alice and yourself." In fine condition, with some light corner creasing.

After graduating from the Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, Oehlert (1909–1985) went into private practice and was later hired by the Department of State to work in the Mexican Claims Agency. He spent several years working in top offices for Coca-Cola, W. R. Grace & Co., and the Minute Maid Company before being appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson to become Ambassador to Pakistan in 1967, a post he held until his retirement in 1969.
