TLS signed “Lyndon,” one page, 7.5 x 9.5, Congress of the United States, House of Representatives letterhead, December 17, 1948. Letter to John Fischer of Harper & Bros., in full: "I enjoyed hearing from you today, and since I have known Fred Gipson for a long, long time I especially appreciated the advance copy of his new book. Fred, I believe, is on the road toward making a real name for himself in the writing world. I am anxious to see this new volume. As you guessed, Fred was active in my campaign this year and I have received some letters from him which were real gems. Right now we are reaping the fruits of that victory—namely, the confusion of moving across the Hill. When we get settled after Jan. 3, I hope you will drop by to visit if you are in Washington." Matted and framed to an overall size of 14.75 x 16.75. In fine condition, with a diagonal crease to the lower right corner. Fred Gipson was an American author who is best known for writing the 1956 novel Old Yeller, which won the Newbery honor and was adapted into a popular 1957 Walt Disney film. Gipson's new book in question is presumably Hound-Dog Man, which was published in 1949 and was also later made into a film starring teen idol Fabian.
