Lyndon B. Johnson typed letter signed as President. On White House stationery he writes to Charles Drummond Lawrence, a Customs Court judge retiring in New York. Dated 26 March 1965, the letter reads in part: ''...You have had an unusually long and illustrious career...beginning...[in] 1899...your record is a source of inspiration to all of us...Lyndon B. Johnson''. 1pp. letter measures 7'' x 10.25''. Paper clip marks and ink notation to top edge, and the faintest foxing, else near fine.
