Bold ink signature and inscription, "To George Ball, who helped to give meaning to these years and whose service I honor—from his friend, Lyndon B. Johnson,” on an off-white 6 x 6.5 sheet. In very fine condition. Holographic material from Johnson remains quite rare, with this autograph bearing a wonderful political association.

George Ball was a banker and diplomat (1909–1994) who served in the management of the U.S. State Department from 1961 to 1966, and is remembered most as the only major dissenter against the escalation of the Vietnam War. During the Kennedy administration he served as the Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs and then as Under Secretary of State before being appointed by President Johnson as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, a post he held for just three months.
